Funding and Rebates

Your household, business or community group may be eligible for government funding to help with an environmental initiative or project. Some rebates are also available.

Funding programs

The NSW and Commonwealth governments run various funding programs for energy, water, waste, natural resource management and environmental education. There are too many to list here, and they change often, but keep an eye on the following websites:

Rebates

The NSW Government offers a number of rebates to help eligible customers pay their energy bills. These include:

  • Low Income Household Rebate – for customers who hold eligible concession cards from the Commonwealth Department of Human Services or Department of Veterans’ Affairs
  • Family Energy Rebate – for customers who have received the Family Tax Benefit
  • Life Support Rebate – for households where residents use certain life-supporting medical equipment
  • Medical Energy Rebate – for eligible customers who have a medically diagnosed inability to self-regulate body temperature.

For details see the Department of Industry website.

Appliance replacement program

The NSW government offers a television and fridge replacement for eligible households. Visit the I Am Making Smarter Choices website for further information on the 40% discount on an energy efficient fridge and the 50% discount on an energy efficient television, and to determine if you are eligible to participate. Energy efficient appliances can cut electricity bills in the household.

Waste disposal vouchers

AlburyCity provides domestic ratepayers with four free entry vouchers each year to use at the Albury Waste Management Facility. Details are on the Albury Waste Management Centre webpage.
