The LibraryMuseum has hosted a wide variety of exhibitions showcasing the culture and history of a variety of communities and people. However, the museum also rests on a continent that contains one of the oldest living cultures and communities in the world, the Australian Aboriginal people. Australian Aboriginal communities around Australia have a long and diverse history, filled with despair, strength, resilience, and hope. The LibraryMuseum itself sits on the land of the Wiradjuri people, a proud people who have lived on this continent since time immemorial.
MOB is a celebration of the local Aboriginal culture and history, using cultural objects found within the museum collection – some of which have never been on display before. The Elders hold the stories, culture and history of their people and foster a deep and unbreaking connection to this Country. The Wiradjuri people never ceded sovereignty of this land, always was always will be Aboriginal land.
