Smart Communities
A smart community uses technology and data to improve everyday life, making our city more connected, efficient and sustainable. Through the Two Cities One Community (2C1C) Smart Community Strategy, AlburyCity is focused on becoming a digitally enabled community, embracing innovative solutions that enhance services, support economic growth and create a more liveable city for our community.
By integrating smart technologies such as the Internet of Things (IoT), Geographic Information Systems (GIS),and data analytics, we can improve city planning, reduce environmental impact and make more informed, data-driven decisions. These technologies can help us optimise our services and enhance public spaces – ensuring Albury is a city that evolves with the needs of our community.
Smart communities also focus on connectivity, ensuring people have access to information and digital services that make daily life easier. From free public Wi-Fi to 2C1C Open Data Hub, we’re using technology to improve accessibility, convenience and sustainability. By investing in innovation today, we’re building a future-ready city that is prepared for change, supports new opportunities and makes Albury an even better place to live, work and visit.
LoRaWAN Network
LoRaWAN (Long Range Wide Area Network) is a low-power, wide-area network protocol designed for wireless communication over long distances and is ideal for applications like smart cities, agriculture, logistics and environmental monitoring, providing connectivity where traditional networks are impractical or costly.
It's commonly used for Internet of Things (IoT) devices, allowing them to transmit small amounts of data over large areas while consuming minimal energy. AlburyCity offers a free LoRaWAN network for our community to connect IoT devices.
