Councillors approved the Engaging Albury Communications and Engagement Strategy at their most recent meeting, setting the direction for the organisation’s community engagement processes until at least 2028.
At the heart of the strategy are five key principles that oversee how the Council seeks and uses feedback, plans and delivers information, interacts with community members and ensures inclusivity and equity.
Albury Mayor, Cr Kylie King, said, “Community engagement is designed to be a collaborative two-way approach. We hope the adoption of this strategy will lead to more innovative approaches in ensuring our community is not only informed, but also has the opportunity to be heard.”
The Engaging Albury strategy goes hand-in-hand with an implementation plan, to be reviewed annually, that builds on the strategy’s objectives with a suite of concrete actions.
It aims to give the community multiple touchpoints to engage with us on a particular issue, using a variety of methods of engagement that suit ever-changing lifestyles, including online, in-person or in a group setting.
“We’re seeking an outcome that those affected and impacted by our projects, activities and services will feel they have contributed to and are more informed and satisfied with the final decision,” Cr King said.
