Announcing Ms Squire’s decision, AlburyCity Chief Executive, Frank Zaknich, highlighted her more than 18 years’ experience with AlburyCity, following earlier local government roles and more than 12 years’ private sector experience in finance, insurance, investment and development.
“Tracey has made tremendous contributions to people and their communities throughout her career and has anchored many of the strategies and developments that underpin Albury’s position today as a such a significant regional city,” Mr Zaknich said.
“After more than 10 years as Director of Economic Development and Tourism at AlburyCity, Tracey was appointed Deputy CEO of Business, Growth and Community in 2019 and has sought to enhance liveability, build capacity and strengthen the region’s economy through sound planning, partnerships, investment and job creation.”
Mr Zaknich noted that Ms Squire’s local government experience in NSW and Victoria had enabled her to appreciate first-hand the challenges faced by rural and regional city communities, creating opportunities with a focus on strategy formation and implementation, tourism and economic development, infrastructure development, and resident and investment attraction in the growing Albury Wodonga region.
These included the establishment of the Visit Albury Wodonga brand in 2010-2014, and subsequently the Invest Albury Wodonga brand, and partnerships with Wodonga Council, which continue to drive visitation and investment into our region in 2025.
“AlburyCity has been fortunate to have Tracey’s expertise to guide the business, economic and community aspects of our organisation, working closely with the Executive and Councillors,” he said.
“She has helped build stronger community engagement, enhancement of our leisure facilities and fostered the highly regarded and accessible cultural assets that continue to make Albury a thriving, resilient and liveable city.
“There is no doubt Tracey has been instrumental in making Albury a great place to live, work and invest.
“Working towards her well-earned retirement, we sincerely thank Tracey for her significant service and commitment to AlburyCity, the broader region and the local government sector.
“Any future recruitment to the vacant role will be determined following review of the AlburyCity service model,” concluded Mr Zaknich.
