Bonnie Doon Oval in West Albury will come alive on Wednesday 23 April as the Gindaymanha Sports Carnival brings together 150 of the region’s young people for a fun-filled day of touch footy, friendship and community connection.

The event marks the end of a six-week training program and promises a vibrant celebration of teamwork, skill and community spirit.

Coordinated by AlburyCity, the carnival will kick off at 10am with a round-robin touch football competition featuring local children aged 9 to 14.

More than just a sporting event, the Gindaymanha Sports Carnival will host a range of activities and information stalls from local organisations including Service NSW, Mission Australia, Albury Police, PCYC, Albury/Wodonga Aboriginal Health Service, YES Unlimited, Westside Community Centre, Carevan, and many others - offering support and resources to families throughout the day.

To recognise the efforts and enthusiasm of the participants, AlburyCity Mayor Kevin Mack will be on hand to present medals to every young player after the tournament.

"The Gindaymanha Sports Carnival is a fantastic example of how sport can bring our community together," said Mayor Mack.

"It’s not just about the game - it’s about building confidence, making connections, and having fun in a safe and supportive environment. We’re proud to support an event that celebrates inclusion and opportunity for our young people."

In addition to the sporting action, families can enjoy a range of free entertainment and creative activities, including a DJ, arts and craft, dance competitions, jewellery-making workshops and more. Free food and drinks will be available for all participants throughout the day.

Now in its ninth year, the event takes its name from the Wiradjuri word Gindaymanha, meaning “fair play” - an idea that captures the heart of the day; fun, fairness and friendship for all.
