We’ve been excited to get back to work this week at our highly anticipated Riverside Precinct at Hovell Tree Park, after flooding from the Murray River put the project on hold in late 2022.
Now that the river levels have receded, our contractors can pick up right where they left off. I know a lot of our community were concerned about how the work already completed would stand up, and I’m pleased to say there was minimal damage. The area just needed a quick clean-up before works could recommence, including removing debris washed up by the water, pressure washing pathways to bring them back to life, and revitalising mulch in garden beds.
This multi-million dollar project will provide spectacular riverside experiences along the river’s edge at Hovell Tree Park through to a peninsula walk behind the Albury Swim Centre. It includes the development of boardwalks, a floating dock, jetty access, BBQ and picnic facilities, built shade structures, better car parking, lighting, landscaping, pathways and improved links with Wagirra Trail, the Albury CBD and Hovell Tree Park.
The Riverside Precinct will transform the way we experience our riverside, creating additional spaces to meet, exercise, and enjoy. The new space will also open up the doors for events such as markets, outdoor performances, pop-ups and more.
We’re aiming to be ready to welcome our community and visitors midway through this year… so watch this space!
