Les O'Brien Athletics Precinct Master Plan Endorsed

AlburyCity has recently endorsed the Les O'Brien Athletics Precinct Master Plan following community support for the future of the facility.

Key priorities highlighted in the plan included:

Additional shade structures along the western bank
New accessible amenities building
Bench seating and picnic tables
Connecting pathways
Additional storage
Perimeter fence around the synthetic track surface
Lighting
Sealed entrance road
Gardens beds and additional landscaping

The Athletics Precinct, located in Cadell Street, is used by 25,000 to 30,000 people and hosts over 60 school and regional sports carnivals every year. The facilities are also available for public hire.

Facilities include:

Eight-lane 400m track
10-lane main straight with full extensions
Combined long jump and triple jump facility, with multiple take-off points and pits at both ends
Space for other events including discus, javelin, shotput and pole vault
Kiosk facilities
Amentities block with showers
Athlete warm-up area
Administration building
Disability access

The electronic timing system is available for hire for $320.00 ($170.00 hire and $150.00 operator) from the Albury Little Athletics Centre. Alternatively timing gates are available for hire from the Lavington Jindera Little Athletics Centre.
