The Albury Animal Care Centre Redevelopment includes the grant-funded Education Hub as well as emergency pens.
AlburyCity operates the region’s impounding service through the Albury Animal Care Centre. The Centre provides a critical service to AlburyCity as well as the surrounding Local Government Areas of Greater Hume Shire and the Victorian Councils of: Wodonga Council, Towong Shire, Indigo Shire and Rural City of Wangaratta.
The new centre will meet best practice standards for animal welfare and will replace the existing facility. Completion of this project will see the redevelopment of the Albury Animal Care Centre and the establishment of a Learning Hub and emergency animal care pens.
The construction of the Learning Hub and emergency pens has been grant-funded through the NSW Government Cross Border Commissioner’s Infrastructure Fund and will include the Education Hub construction, training rooms, allowing hands-on animal training, companion animal information education and a display space as well as animal holding pens. These pens will be equipped to allow community members and school groups to view, handle and bring companion animals into the centre. The Learning Hub component of the facility redevelopment will be completed by December 2025.
The redeveloped Animal Care Centre will provide state-of-the-art animal facilities, a climate controlled environment, meeting rooms, adoption spaces, dog and cat meet-and-greet areas all innovatively designed.
