Monday 10 January 2022
Albury has a new leadership team, following the election of the city’s new Mayor and Deputy Mayor on Monday night.

Our new councillors elected Cr Kylie King as Mayor and Councillor Steve Bowen as Deputy Mayor.

They’ll lead the councillor group for the next two years.

Cr King said the councillors were excited to be working together on a vision to grow and improve the city over the upcoming term.

“It’s a true honour and I’ll be working very hard as part of a collective team of councillors, and I can see the passion, drive and community focus, and the spirit is there to really work together to drive the city forward,” she said.

Deputy Mayor Cr Steve Bowen said the election and the start of the new council term would bring fresh ideas and new opportunities for Albury.

“It’s great to have that team morale and there’s a really great synergy happening already, and I know Kylie and I are looking forward to working as part of a team to lead the city into an exciting future,” he said.

AlburyCity CEO Frank Zaknich welcomed the new councillors and leadership team.

“A new year with a new councillor group is a great way to begin another exciting period for our city,” he said.

“We’re looking forward to delivering some fantastic projects already in progress, plus we’ll be working together to develop new ideas and opportunities for our community.”

The nine new councillors will hold their next meeting on 14 February.
