AlburyCity Kiln Firing

The Kiln is located at the Albury Botanic Gardens depot and currently offers Bisque and Glaze firing services.

Delivery sessions conclude once all booked attendees have delivered their items.
To ensure there is a team member present to accept your items, you must book.


The AlburyCity Kiln Firing service provides local creatives with that all-important final step in the ceramics process.

The Kiln is located at the Albury Botanic Gardens depot and currently offers both Bisque firing services (bookings here) and Glaze firing services.

Deliver your items to our Kiln coordinators for firing fortnightly on the below Thursdays:

  • Thursday 22 February 5pm to 6pm
  • Thursday 7 March 5pm to 6pm
  • Thursday 21 March 5pm to 6pm
  • Thursday 4 April 5pm to 6pm
  • Thursday 18 April 5pm to 6pm
  • Thursday 2 May 5pm to 6pm
  • Thursday 16 May 5pm to 6pm

Items to be delivered on selected date will be available for pickup two weeks later*.
*No requests for earlier collection.

Weight confirmed, and payments taken on the day - no payment taken at time of booking.

Temperature Guide

Bisque Fire: Firing to 1000 degrees Celsius (cone 6)
*accepted Bisque temperature for most clays

Glaze Fire: Firing to 1200 degrees Celsius (cone5/6)
*clay used must support a 1 200 firing temperature, some clays will melt at this temp.

FAQs

  • Can we fire terracotta? keyboard_arrow_right

    Yes, in bisque. No, in glaze.

    Terracotta has a lower firing range than 1200 degrees Celsius and will melt at this temperature.

  • Can we fire to stoneware? keyboard_arrow_right

    No, the kiln does not support that temperature requirement.

  • Will the pieces be food safe? keyboard_arrow_right

    Yes, pieces glazed and fired at 1200 degrees Celsius will be food, dishwasher and microwave safe.
